BsCel5
Part coding for catalytic enzyme cellulase, which cleaves 1,4-beta-D-glycosidic linkages in cellulose. This specific gene sequence is naturally found in some strains of Bacillus subtilis.
Usage and Biology
The enzymes expressed can be used to hydrolyse cellulose molecules into simple sugars.
This gene is intended for use in B. subtilis, preceded by a secretory tag like BBa_K2029000 or BBa_K2029001 which signals the B. subtilis cell to secrete the coded protein into the medium.
